The sponsoring consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics 

SCOAP3 is a global partnership between libraries, national funding agencies and research institutions from 47 countries, as well as three intergovernmental organisations. SCOAP³  converts subscription journals in the field of high-energy physics (particle physics) to open access through the redirection of subscription funds.

SCOAP³ journals are open for any researcher to publish in without paying any APCs. Copyright stays with the author, and a permissive CC-BY license allows text- and data-mining. SCOAP³ addresses Open Access mandates at no burden for authors. All articles appear in the SCOAP³ repository for further distribution, as well as being Open Access on publishers’ websites. Metadata are freely available and an API (SCOAP³ partner exclusive) allows easy ingestion of all articles in national or institutional repositories.

Benefits for Authors

Authors of High-Energy Physics articles publishing in journals participating in SCOAP³ benefit from:

• • immediate Open Access;

• • no direct cost;

• • no administrative burden;

• • automatic compliance with national and institutional Open Access mandates and policies;
  • retain copyright.

The submission process itself remained unchanged with the introduction of SCOAP³ and is detailed in each journal customary ‘Author Guidelines’. Authors will not need to pay any fees to publish in a SCOAP³ journal. As an author, it is recommended to include your ORCiD in the submission process: it helps SCOAP³ partners discover and support your publications.
